Lab MissionOur funding principle is to advance the academic research in planning/scheduling and business intelligence. We apply the OR and computing techniques to solve or model the supply chain decision problem.Planning/SchedulingWe aim to develop planning/scheduling algorithms, based on the natures of problem, in order to solve the problem more quickly and produce better results as well as to realize the developed algorithms in commercial supply chain package such as SAP APO. We investigate ways to customize algorithms and implement them on the SAP APO system. We study the possibility of bypassing the standard SAP solving procedure and using CPLEX and JMSL as the basic problem solving tools to conquer more complicated problems in the real world. The result of research will significantly reduce the barriers faced by a prospect in introducing SAP APO to their system, and lift the adaptability of solving procedures to a higher level.Business Intelligence: Automatically generating KPIsUnder limited number of off-the-rack KPIs in DW, we want to know what more indexes we can use. This research is inspired by demand of finding out a method to develop more KPIs. By discussing the attribute of raw data in ERP systems and formula structures in DW, we find out the mechanism and possibility of generating KPIs automatically. There are three sub-problems: the mechanism of classifying raw data in ERP systems; what the formula structures found in DW and the operator class; the linkage of raw data in ERP system and operator class.Green Supply Chain:An ERP-based Carbon Management SystemAccording to a recent survey, there are no fewer than 150 carbon management software providers. The market has seen the rise of a variety of carbon management systems, and an industry is projected to grow into a multibillion dollar business by 2020. We propose a framework for an ERP-based carbon management system and inspect the data readiness of the ERP system.Practices and researches on ERP and SCM Systems Our lab member are responsible for the modules of SAP ECC 6.0: MM, PP, SD and SAP APO. We offer a great deal of manpower on operating the corresponding modules, accumulating and sharing teaching materials, and researching into related topics. Typical research topics: 2. Model different production planning strategies on PP module of SAP ECC 6.0 in order to understand the results of performance; 3. Plan replenishment amount and time to meet the management target.Areas of research interest:
