Ph.D. students must publish at least 2 papers to (partially) fulfill the degree’s requirements.  These papers must be directly related to research that the student has conducted during his or her Ph.D. program at the institute and submitted to academic journals approved by the student’s dissertation advisor.  Furthermore, the student’s affiliation shown on these papers must be the institute.

2. The student and his/her dissertation advisor must be listed as the first or the second author of all these papers.

3. Among the papers published by the student, there must be one paper published in journals that are covered in “Science Citation Index” (SCI) or “Social Sciences Citation Index” (SSCI) citation database, and another paper published in journals covered in “Taiwan’s Social Sciences Citation Index” (TSSCI) or “Engineering Index” (EI) citation database.

2. Among those students admitted to the Ph.D. program in the same academic year, at most 2 students can request the same faculty member at the institute to be their dissertation adviser.  Professors at a different department or institute can only serve as a co-advisor of the student (counted as 0.5 students for faculty members at the institute).

3. If a student fails to make satisfactory progress in research, his/her advisor will terminate the relationship in advising that studen
