Mission Statement

The institute is committed to advancing management knowledge by integrating cutting-edge manufacturing and information technologies. Our goal is to cultivate industrial management professionals equipped with expertise in supply chain management and interdisciplinary integration, thereby contributing to industrial upgrading and sustainable development. Chronology

The Graduate Institute of Industrial Management is part of the College of Management at National Central University. Established in the 1994 academic year, the institute aims to advance academic theories in industrial management, develop industry-relevant applied knowledge, and cultivate high-level professionals to meet the needs of Taiwan's industrial sector.

At its inception, the institute offered only a master’s program. In 1999, a doctoral program was introduced, followed by the launch of an Executive Master’s Program in 2002.

Over the past three decades, the institute has grown significantly and now includes seven full-time faculty members along with several adjunct instructors. Each year, it admits 31 master’s students, 30 executive master’s students, and a variable number of doctoral students.

The institute’s teaching and research efforts span four major domains within industrial management:

Research methodology serves as the foundation of our academic training, complemented by courses in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), big data, algorithms, and related fields in information systems and data science. This curriculum equips students with practical skills in professional management and problem-solving.

In recent years, in response to the profound technological, industrial, and societal transformations driven by global warming, the institute has made sustainable development a key focus of both teaching and research. In addition to offering sustainability-related courses, we emphasize interdisciplinary learning and the development of students' cross-functional competencies to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

Future Outlook

"Semiconductors" and "Artificial Intelligence" are the most important cutting-edge technologies of the present and foreseeable future. By chance, Taiwan has uniquely positioned itself as a key manufacturing hub for advanced semiconductor and AI-related equipment.

Looking ahead, the institute will focus on integrating relevant research and teaching capabilities, restructuring the curriculum, and collaborating with other departments within the university as well as external technology enterprises. This will continue to support our consistent mission of "cultivating high-level industrial management talent," "pursuing academic and professional excellence," and "becoming a world-class institute for industrial management education and research."

Career Opportunities for Graduates

Most of our graduates find employment in high-tech and manufacturing industries. After the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, global attention has shifted towards the development of semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Taiwan, with its world-leading competitiveness in the semiconductor and computer industries, has seen related companies rapidly expanding their production capacity domestically. At the same time, they are making large-scale investments in regions such as Japan, Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe, resulting in a strong demand for high-tech talent in Taiwan.

As a result, in recent years, many of our graduates have entered high-tech manufacturing sectors, including semiconductors, electronics, optoelectronics, and communications, as shown in the pie chart below.

Excluding factors such as military service, further studies abroad, or studying overseas, most of our graduates are able to secure their ideal jobs within a few months after graduation, as shown in the bar chart below.
