Laboratory Introduction
The purpose of this laboratory is to research how to apply methods and techniques in design, planning, control, and analysis to improve the capacity and efficiency of production and manufacturing systems. The research directions of this laboratory include facility layout, material handling and processing, design, planning, control, and analysis of production and manufacturing systems, design, planning, control, and analysis of logistics systems, and operations management of these systems. The research tools commonly used in this laboratory include Arena, VisualBasic, C++, CPLEX, and related statistical software.
In addition to general manufacturing industries, the industries researched in this laboratory also include logistics, information technology, semiconductor, and other high-tech industries. Through studying and exploring the related problems of these industries, we hope that the laboratory will train capable talents who can solve the problems of these industries, thus improving their productivity and competitiveness. This is the founding purpose of the laboratory.
In recent years, the laboratory has achieved good results in several research themes, with multiple papers published in renowned domestic and international journals and major conferences. These research themes include: operational issues in logistics centers (e.g., picking paths and order selection), facility layout and storage planning in logistics centers, flexible manufacturing system layout and tool management, design and control of automated material handling systems (such as Automated Guided Vehicles and Hoists), group technology, unit manufacturing system design and facility layout, machine layout, semiconductor wafer factory facility layout, and the design, planning, control, and analysis of material handling systems in semiconductor wafer factories. Additionally, the laboratory has begun exploring design, planning, control, and analysis issues in other environments, such as TFT-LCD panel factories and port container terminals. Other related research topics include Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Supply Chain Management (SCM).Main Areas:
